Exploring Milos Greece during the summer holidays

Exploring Milos, the Greek island located in the Aegean Sea and known for its turquoise waters is a truly unforgettable experience.  It is the fifth largest island in the Cyclades group of islands and is known for its beautiful beaches, stunning coastline, and rich history.

Milos is home to a number of small villages and towns, the largest of which is Plaka. Plaka is the capital of the island and is known for its charming streets, whitewashed houses, and beautiful views. The island is also home to several other villages, including Klima, Pollonia, and Triovasalos.

One of the main attractions of Milos is its stunning beaches. The island has over 70 beaches, ranging from sandy stretches to small coves. Some of the most popular beaches include Sarakiniko, which features white, moon-like rock formations, and Tsigrado, which can only be accessed by a narrow path.

In addition to its beaches, Milos is also known for its rich history and cultural attractions. The island was home to the ancient city of Phylakopi, which was an important center of trade and commerce. The island is also home to the Catacombs of Milos, an underground network of tombs and chapels that date back to the early Christian era.

Stay hydrated: It can get quite hot on the island, especially during the summer months, so be sure to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

When to Visit

The weather in Milos is generally warm and sunny, with average temperatures ranging from the mid-70s Fahrenheit in the spring and fall to the mid-80s in the summer. If you’re planning a beach vacation, the summer months of June, July, and August are the best time to visit. However, if you prefer cooler temperatures and fewer crowds, you may want to visit in the spring or fall. Milos is a popular tourist destination, especially during the summer months. If you prefer to avoid crowds, you may want to visit in the shoulder season (April-May or September-October).

Where to stay

Milos is a relatively small island, and most destinations are within a short drive of each other. Consider where you want to spend most of your time and choose accommodation accordingly.

If you want to be close to the beach, look for accommodation in a coastal town or village. If you want to be closer to the main town, Plaka, consider staying in the town itself or in a nearby village.

Milos has a range of accommodation options to suit different budgets and preferences. Hotels and guesthouses are a good choice for those who want a more traditional accommodation experience, while apartments and vacation rentals offer more privacy and space, and are a good option for families or groups.

Consider also what kind of facilities and amenities are important to you and choose accommodation accordingly. If you want a hotel with a pool, for example, look for accommodation with a pool. If you want a vacation rental with a kitchen, look for a rental with a fully equipped kitchen.
